Forest Products

All kinds of forest products and wood exist throughout the existence of human beings, and for this reason, it is a natural building material.

Since it is a natural building material, wood, which is compatible with nature, recyclable, and does not cause environmental pollution in terms of material, production and application, is the most reliable material in terms of human health. It is known that people living in wooden buildings feel much healthier physiologically and psychologically, and they get sick when they have to live in reinforced concrete houses. Wood that breathes with us has a positive effect on rheumatism, asthma, kidney diseases and circulatory disorders. On the other hand, concrete has a toxic effect on our body by constantly emitting Radon gas. Among the hygienic demands in wooden decor floors, “base temperature” or “floor temperature” comes first. It has been determined that people feel peace and comfort when the temperature of the floor is approximately 25 C to 30 C degrees in the room. It is possible to construct a building with only wood from the foundation to the roof, as well as to use it for artistic and decoration purposes. Wooden structures can be dismantled and reused and their parts in the system can be changed. As in steel structures, a construction system is created in wooden structures that can be rebuilt with very little loss after dismantling. The prevention of losses that may occur during disassembly depends on the design being made in this direction. Reinforced concrete systems are demolished, not dismantled and reused. In addition, wooden systems are suitable for repair, reinforcement, plan and volume changes.

After the wood undergoes the necessary processes, it provides a high level of thermal insulation. 1 cm of wood is equal to the thermal insulation value of 16 cm of concrete. Wood is a material that can withstand different climatic conditions. Supported with special materials, wood shows great resistance to all kinds of destruction. Wood is also resistant to earthquake effects, as it is a flexible building material resistant to shock and vibration absorption. In addition to its resistance to earthquakes, it is a building system that has the least loss of life due to its lightness, even if there is damage to the structure as a result of the earthquake. Wood is a very light material. For this reason, when used in buildings, the load transmitted to supports and foundations decreases. Due to its lightness and resistance to tensile and bending, large openings can be passed more easily. It is used in the construction of columns, beams and walls in buildings, beams and floor beams, overhangs and eaves. Concrete is 5 times heavier than wood and 13 times heavier than Steel. For this reason, deaths in earthquakes are usually caused by the weight of concrete, while the risk of death in wooden houses is very low.

Wood material absorbs sound and prevents reflection and reverberation. Due to this feature, it is considered appropriate to cover the ceiling, floor or walls with wood in meeting places, classrooms, halls and laboratories where education is held so that the sound can be heard clearly without hum. There is no other natural material that can offer as much aesthetically pleasing possibilities as wooden decor. The aesthetic effect of wooden decor makes people feel the closeness and warmth of a naturally growing raw material and has a relaxing effect. Less energy is used compared to other building materials, both during the manufacturing phase and during the construction phase. In the next stage, much less energy is spent on heating a wooden house.
