A Contribution Of 1 Billion Dollars Is Expected From Forest Products
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli said, “We aim to reduce the current account deficit by 1 billion dollars by reducing the imports in the field of forest products with the products we will produce by taking better care of the forests with 5 thousand personnel to be recruited to the General Directorate of Forestry.”
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli visited the applied examination area in Behiçbey Forest Nursery, where forest engineers to be employed by OGM participated.
Providing information on personnel recruitment, Pakdemirli said that a total of 5 thousand personnel will be recruited by the institution. Stating that personnel will be recruited as a result of consultations with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and relevant institutions, Pakdemirli said that 5 thousand personnel will be employed for the protection, afforestation and rehabilitation of forests.
He also stated that it will contribute to the reduction of imports in the field of Forest Products, as well as the fight against fire.
Explaining that they decided to plan to reduce the current account deficit related to forest products, Pakdemirli used the following statements:
“We can’t do stamping and maintenance fast enough because forest officers are open in terms of numbers. When we complete these, we have to cut down a certain part of the amount of trees that grow each year. This is important for the increase and health of the forest asset. It is necessary to protect the forest health and balance the use of timber, furniture. “We will achieve results by minimizing the imports of some forest products such as wood, processed wood, etc. The need in this area will be met with our domestic resources. In other words, we aim to reduce the current account deficit by 1 billion dollars by reducing the imports in the field of forest products with the products we will produce by taking better care of the forests with these 5 thousand personnel.”
